DDB Sydney’s Carl Ratcliff launches creative consultancy This Is The Day

Carl Ratcliff, former chief strategy officer at DDB Sydney, has launched his own creative consultancy, This Is The Day.

Ratcliff described the business as  a ‘problem-based brand and marketing consultancy’.

“This Is The Day is something I’ve always wanted to open. And is the first of those pots simmering I referred to,” Ratcliff told Mumbrella.

“It’s a creatively inspired consultancy with a problem-biased brains trust. Made for marketers and partners in urgent need of originality.”

This Is The Day will help brands solve business problems through marketing tools including brand positioning, proposition development and new product development. The consultancy will also focus on the commercial outcome of marketing efforts in order to help clients effectively measure their results.

Ratcliff departed DDB Sydney in March after just 18 months with the agency. At the time he told Mumbrella he had “a few things bubbling which I’ll be thrilled to talk about in due course.”

Ratcliff replaced DDB’s former CSO Fran Clayton in 2018, following her move to McCann with DDB’s former CEO Nicole Taylor. Since Ratcliff’s departure, Clayton has returned to the business in her former role.

Previously, Ratcliff has been the CEO of public relations agencies One Green Bean and Naked Communications, and the managing director of BWM Denstu.
