Queensland newspaper Courier-Mail made a point of NSW’s poor record on its front page this morning

Last year 2.207m tuned in to see Queensland seal the series with a thumping victory in the third match, while 2.404m tuned in for the second match of this series, and a record 2.708m metro viewers watched the first game.

It is the lowest Game III audience since 2010.

Pre-match build up was watched by 1.264m viewers while the post match in Sydney and Brisbane was seen by 809,000. The match itself was watched by 839,000 people in Sydney and 758,000 in Brisbane, according to OzTam overnight metro figures.

The numbers still put Nine comfortably ahead for the night with 32.9% audience share, leaving Ten in second with 13.9% ahead of Seven’s 13.6% and ABC on 9.8%.

However cold weather appears to have kept more people indoors last night with Masterchef on Ten attracting decent figures of 945,000 at 7.30pm, while the third episode of Offspring at 8.30pm shed more viewers with 742,000 tuning in, down from 779,000 last week.

Despite the Origin build up Seven News won the nightly news battle with 1.157m viewers with Nine managing 1.109m viewers at 6pm, although Nine won the 6.30pm battle with 1.077m viewers to 1.036m on Seven.

Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell at 8.30pm was ABC’s best entertainment shot with 574,000 viewers.
