Deloitte Digital’s Andy Bateman returns to agency life with US role
Andy Bateman, head of Deloitte Australia’s national innovation strategy practice and former Telstra marketing executive, is to return to the United States and agency life to lead the US operations of Canadian agency Sid Lee.
Bateman arrived in Australia nine years ago to become CEO of then Photon-owned agency, Leading Edge before joining Telstra three years later. Prior to Leading Edge he was CEO of Interbrand New York
Steve Hallam, head of Deloitte Digital, told Mumbrella: “Andy has been instrumental in growing our innovation strategy offering at Deloitte and we are privileged to have had his expertise. We wish him all the best on his move to the US. We have a strong capability and lots of experience in the innovation strategy domain and a replacement offering leader will be announced in due course.”
After leaving Telstra following a management reshuffle which saw his and Inese Kingsmill’s marketing roles abolished, Bateman set up his own consultancy, Everyone, which Deloitte acquired as part of his recruitment deal.
Sid Lee is a 650 strong agency headquartered in Montreal with branches across Europe and North America. Bateman will be based in the company’s Los Angeles office.
Hhmmm,
Why is everyone leaving the Consulting Band Wagon?

They’re leaving if they’re good because they realise, as a good consultant should, that the business model is utter crap. For a start these consultancies are where many inadequate advertising people go to hide. Google the names of the consultancies and their ex advertising staff and you’ll see what I mean.
