Deloitte’s CCO Tony Ritchie joins Alcohol Beverages Australia as head of media and comms

Deloitte’s chief communications officer, Tony Ritchie, has become the director of media and communications at Alcohol Beverages Australia.

Alcohol Beverages Australia represents the positive social, cultural and economic contributions of the alcohol industry and advocates for the responsible consumption of alcohol.

Ritchie will be leading the organisation’s communications with the aim of raising its profile.

“Coming into the role has made me pretty excited. Alcohol Beverages Australia may have a diminutive profile right now but at its heart, it’s representing the 16 million Australians who chose to drink responsibility and the 500,000 people who rely on the industry for work,” Ritchie said.

“We are a voice for them, and a voice for industry where evidence and facts can dispel many of the myths around drinking.”

Prior to his four years at Deloitte, Ritchie was the director of media at the department of finance services and innovation. He has previously held communications leadership roles at the NSW Police Force and the Federal Treasury.

He has also held several executive roles at several TV networks, including the managing editor of Sky News Australia and channel manager of Fox Sports News.
