Destination NSW, Tourism Tasmania back 52 Weekends Away

Destination NSW and Tourism Tasmania are the major sponsors for the 30th anniversary issue of the annual 52 Weekends Away, by The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age’s Good Weekend.

In addition to false covers on the front and back of the magazine, Destination NSW has taken an eight-page mini-magazine insert and sponsored content, while Tourism Tasmania has a seven-page advertorial.

Co-edited by the Good Weekend and Traveller teams and set against the backdrop of COVID-19 restrictions, the 30th annual edition, features weekend escapes for every state and territory, and reviews of accommodation.

In a year that’s seen drought, bushfires and a pandemic, supporting domestic travel is being encouraged by tourism bodies nationally.

Tourism Australia launched ‘Holiday Here This Year’ platform in January, the first significant domestic marketing push since 2013, in response to the bushfires. It was followed up by a relaunch in October featuring Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster-Blake.
