DGM sold to ComTel for $5m

Search and affiliate marketing company DGM’s Australian operation is set to be bought by online firm ComTel for around $5m, an announcement to the ASX has revealed.  

ComTel, which has just sold its mobile phone assets, is also set to rebrand as Digital Performance Group, the company added.

ComTel MD Chris Meehan said: “DGM has been operating in the performance-based sector since 2003, offering clients online marketing programs across multiple channels – affiliate marketing, search engine marketing and online display. We selected DGM because of its strong presence in the sector, the quality of the people and customers, and its earnings.”

ComTel owns permission based email marketing platform Empowered, which is claims is Australia’s biggest permission based email database with 500,000 names.

Craig Ellis, MD of DGM said the sale signalled “a bright future” for the business.

Mumbrella understands that a rebranded DGM and Empowered will be run as separate businesses. The deal does not include DGM’s operation in other parts of th world.
