EXCLUSIVE: Digital agency launches in Brisbane

clare-lancaster1dot-marketing1A digital marketing expert who was behind a much-imitated search engine optimisation initiative has started her own agency in Brisbane.

Clare Lancaster was project manager of the 2004 “nigritude ultramarine” contest, in which SEO experts from around the world were challenged to show off their skills to take their sites to the top of search engine rankings when users searched on that phrase. It was a competition that has since been copied around the world, most recently by the “velociroflcoptersaurus” competition, whichwas won by Sydney agency Shifted Pixels at the end of last year.

Lancaster, who also has a blog, has now launched Dot Marketing, which will focus on web site and marketing strategy. She said: “The idea grew from an increasing amount of inquiries from business owners with existing websites who weren’t happy with their Inernet business results, or Google results.”

She has previously worked for ASX-listed company Dark Blue Sea as well as handled internet marketing for her family’s business.
