Digital agency Monkii rebrands to Calico

Australian digital agency Monkii has announced that after 20 years operating under Monkii, the agency will rebrand under new name, Calico.

After 20 years as Monkii, the team behind some of Australia’s most-loved digital experiences has hit refresh on their branding.

As Monkii, the veteran digital agency has been behind some of Australia’s most loved and well-known cultural events and attractions, from Zoos Victoria and White Night to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

With the last few years being a prime time to pause and reflect, Calico took the time to stop and examine where they had come from and where they were heading. “Ultimately, after two decades of Monkii, it was time for a change,” explains Managing Director Matt Fenton.

“While Monkii has served us well, times have changed and the agency has evolved. We felt Monkii lacked meaning and didn’t say very much about who we are today.”

Commercial Director Andy Hibbert continues: “After a long process of ideation, we decided to rebrand as Calico because it represents so much of how we see ourselves as we move into this new era.” Regarding the new name, “Calico just felt right with it being a blank canvas for our creativity and it being durable, easy to work with, and sustainable.”

Beginning with a sole developer in 2003, Calico has now expanded to an expert team of 25 digital consultants, working across Australia in an increasingly common remote and hybrid office set-up.

Along with the branding overhaul, Calico has a brand new website – one that champions their successful past while steering them directly towards a brighter future.
