Digitas Australia gains MD from VML Commerce

Publicis Groupe’s Digitas Australia has announced that Kate Warren-Smith is joining the business as its new managing director.

Based in Melbourne, Warren-Smith will be a member of the digital agency’s national executive leadership team.

“It’s exciting to join Digitas Australia at a time when we are leading the move from fragmented marketing to unified, connected experiences,” she said in a media release.

“What sets us apart is our ability to deliver creative, intelligence, marketing operations, commerce and media, all under one roof to drive impact for clients.

“I am especially energised by our focus on solutions that blend imagination with commercial strategy, delivering brand moments that are not only seamless but also create meaningful impact throughout the customer journey.”

Warren-Smith has two decades of experience in the commerce, shopper and brand activation fields. Before Digitas, she spent over seven years at VML Commerce, after joining as general manager in July 2018. Warren-Smith became the division’s managing director in January 2022, and served in the role until August 2025.

She also filled group account director and business director roles at WPP’s creative commerce agency Geometry Global for close to six years.

Digitas Australia’s chief executive officer Davy Rennie said that Warren-Smith is the perfect addition to the team due to her background in culture development and maintenance.

“Kate’s ability to deliver creative and commercial impact across a wide range of partners and categories was as evident as her track record for building and maintaining amazing cultures,” Rennie said.

“Her vision for being a strategic partner, creating fully integrated brand experiences for our clients across Australia, aligns perfectly with our vision for people, process, and product growth”.

Warren-Smith starts her role this month.
