The announcement:

Independent production company, The Woolshed Co., today announced director Matt Weston has joined their roster across TVC, Viral and Digital Content.

Weston is best known for directing the Chiko Roll ‘Handy Holder’ campaign, MLA’s ‘The Honeybadger’s Home Videos’ series, and various viral stunts including stealing (quite literally) the Big Mango from Far North Queensland for Nandos.

Weston also helmed the award-winning rock and roll feature documentary, COSMIC PSYCHOS: BLOKES YOU CAN TRUST, that premiered at the 2013 Melbourne International Film Festival, leading to a slew of further documentary projects for WorkCover, the Heart Foundation, and BUPA.

The Woolshed’s EP and Co-Founder Dave Christison says:  “In addition to Matt’s extensive experience in TVC’s and docos, his unique tone of voice and resourceful approach to directing, he also brings along his own bag of tricks when it comes to creating highly sharable, viral content. A perfect fit for The Woolshed.”

In additional to traditional content production The Woolshed conceives, creates and strategically seeds viral video campaigns, repeatedly amassing world wide news coverage and has accumulated over 310 million online views, all without any paid media, promotion or distribution.

Founded in late 2014, last year The Woolshed was awarded B&T’s Highly Commended Production Company Of The Year and was nominated for Emerging Agency Of The Year. Most recently their work in the viral landscape was recognised with a ‘Best Of Show’ and 2 x Golds at the Mobius Awards, a finalist at AdFest, and is currently nominated for 3 x finalists at this years New York Festival, along with a Webby Award.

Weston says he’s thrilled to be joining the business, “Seeing the rapid rise and success of The Woolshed, particularly with their approach to viral work, makes my new home feel like a match made in hell, because God knows that neither of us are getting into heaven for the stunts we’ve been pulling.”
