Doctor Doctor season two premiere attracts 758,000 metro viewers

Doctor Doctor’s season two premiere attracted 758,000 metro viewers and 1.154m nationally last night, defeating Ten’s Offspring and Seven’s Criminal Minds in the same time slot.

While Doctor Doctor was a clear winner over last night’s Offspring episode on the ratings ladder, Ten’s entertainment show – which attracted 556,000 metro viewers and 725,000 nationally, was more popular across the key advertising demographics, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings.

Offspring placed third in the 16-39s and 18-49s while Doctor Doctor featured in the 16-39s demographic, in fifth place. Last year, Doctor Doctor premiered on the night of Offspring’s finale and attracted 759,000 metro viewers

Seven’s Criminal Minds, which ran against Offspring and Doctor Doctor, managed 441,000 metro viewers.

Nine’s performance last night was strong, with The Block attracting the most viewers among entertainment offerings, with 998,000 metro viewers at 7:30pm, and 1.444m national viewers.

The Block defeated Ten’s The Bachelor, which achieved 736,000 metro viewers and Seven’s Border Security: Australia’s Front, which captured 664,000 metro viewers.

Nationally the shows averaged audiences of 983,000, and 1.011m respectively.

Nine also won the night in news, with 1.070m metro viewers ahead of Seven’s 1.015m.

Nine and Seven’s national audiences were 1.084m and 1.629m.

Ten’s The Project had 584,000 metro viewers and 858,000 national viewers.

ABC’s most watched program was Shaun Miccallef’s Mad as Hell, with 732,000 metro viewers.

Nine’s news and entertainment offerings helped the channel with an average audience share of 21.7%, ahead of Seven’s 17.2% and Ten’s 15.1%.

ABC and SBS reported average audience shares of 13.1% and 4.9%.
