Domino’s calls in Taste Police to plug new sandwich range
Domino’s has marked its attempt to break into the lunchtime sandwich market with a series of videos featuring “Taste Police” examining people’s snack choices.
The videos, featuring Brisbane comedian and radio producer Chris Hague as the lunch cop and shot by film maker Peter Ireland, were masterminded by Brisbane and Sydney based Red PR.
Further episodes can be found on the Domino’s Taste Police YouTube channel.
The push from Domino’s launched this week with five baked sandwich products priced at $5.95 for collection or $7.95 for delivery. It marks a concerted effort by the brand to widen its remit beyond beyond pizza, which is mainly bought durign the evening.
The whole fake police thing is hardly original. Betta Milk in Tassie have been running a series of ads with milk police https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8dl_g5gdaM and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04XFF14EwDI, and I know there have been others (just can’t remember any at the moment).
It also takes a lot from the Chaser’s Citizen Infringement Officer sketches.
Just doesn’t work for me. Too much of a rip off of other people’s ideas. I know there’s nothing new in the media industry.

If you’re going to do this kind of stuff, it’s got to be funny.

All about taste, I guess. My expectations weren’t that high, but it made me laugh.
And far more tellingly, I actually heard my colleague Camille chuckle more than once as she watched one of the episodes. I’ve known her for more than three years and I don’t think I’ve heard her laugh at an ad before…
Cheers,
Tim
stop busting balls people, its piss funny.
less hate worthy than the Domino’s effect was which is a good thing.

Maybe not that original, but somewhat funny. Although, if I was accosted by that faux cop, I would vow to never eat Domino’s again.

Wow… everyone’s a critic. I thought it was funny and clever.

There must be something wrong with me I didn’t find them funny at all, The girls in the park one was a bit too much live an overacted Rove skit. A bit of a smile with the tradies one and a bravery award perhaps but funny? not for me but I have been told I’m weird so maybe it is funny to normal people.

Didn’t realise there were so many people out there missing the sense of humour gene. What do you guys do for fun?!

Taste Police are obviously corrupt, and where are the Grease Police when you need them?

That is shockingly poor and the antithesis of funny.
Can’t speak for the others, Bionicblonde, but personally, for fun I watch funny things

Truly awful and unfunny.
The day that anybody laughs at this is the day the comedy terrorists have won.

I breathed a sigh of relief when a sandwich was given at the end to tie it off. Otherwise, it would have been just idiotic. Agree with @ Ratatoskr: Not an original concept but was definitely funny for me. I’m curious about the results now…

Also have to agree with Ratatoskr, it’s definitely not an original concept. It was okay I guess, but if you’re going to borrow ideas I just think it needs to be either hillarious or somehow unique. Of which it was neither imho.
But the proof is in the pudding and if the results show that it worked, well then who really cares what I think.

Hey at least it is a single minded concept

It’s a funny little piece; come on guys… lighten up.

Oh dear. It makes me uncomfortable to watch it.
