A Golden Gaytime for Mardi Gras; A golden Korean boost for the SMH
With Mardi Gras this weekend, Dr Mumbo salutes Unilever’s decision to give its Golden Gaytime ice cream a retro push.
The camp ads, dating back to the early 1980s, are running as streaming video on the Facebook application Superwall. The strategy is being overseen by Spiral Media.
Despite the timing – the campaign runs only until the end of next week – a spokesman insisted to Dr Mumbo: “As far as I know, it’s just a coincidence.”
If the state visit to Australia of the Korean president goes on much longer, Fairfax’s troubles may be over. Yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald saw a full page ad from Samsung welcoming him to our shores. Today Hyundai followed suit.
The outdoor industry has also received a nice cash boost thanks to the State dinner. Sydney CBD has been blanketed in OOH welcome messages to his excellency from Samsung (not surprisingly he is the former head of Hyandai, another Korean chaebol).
