Rodent’s revenge; Sport & Style not in vogue; Right to know? Not at the Press Council
There was a very insightful article in B&T after the magazine cold-called the Meat & Livestock Australia recipe helpline for advice on cooking mince, with disappointing results. It reports: “The call handlers were too busy to solve the Mystery Shopper’s mice-related crisis.” And Dr Mumbo thought that all mice-related crises could be solved by giving them cheese.
Dr Mumbo couldn’t help but notice an extremely large pile of Sport & Style magazines in his local newsagent. Considering they were all due to be given away with yesterday’s Fairfax papers, he asked the newsagent why there were so many left. The glare he received discouraged further questions.
Considering the Australian Press Council is a big supporter of the Australia’s Right To Know campaign, he wasn’t that taken with an interview in today’s newsletter from the APC with outgoing member Deborah Kirkman.
She was asked: “Have you any favourite memmories of interestate meetings?” Her answer: “I think I’ll keep them to myself!”. Then she was asked about favourite guest speakers during her time there. Just as informatively: “I have met so many outstanding people that I cannot play favourites, I’m afraid!”
Australia’s right to know indeed.
Maybe Ms. Kirkham was confused about the question about her favourite “memmories” … misunderstood it to be “mammaries” … so not surprisingly decided to keep her mammaries to herself!

Oops – my typo. I won’t correct it though, so that your message still makes sense, JG.
