Drive TV returns with Dylan Alcott special

Drive TV is returning to Channel Nine in 2025, with an Australian Open special for the first edition, featuring Australian sporting legend, Dylan Alcott.

Airing ahead of the men’s Australian Open final this weekend, the special focuses on Alcott’s journey following his retirement from tennis.

The special, titled ‘The Road to the Open: A New Chapter’ will be hosted by Drive TV’s Emma Notarfrancesco, and will offer an intimate look into the past 12 months of Alcott’s life.

The program is the much-anticipated follow-up to last year’s Australian Open production ‘Chasing Champions’ with Alcott. It also shares a nod to Kia Australia’s 23-year partnership with the Australian Open, by prominently featuring the KIA EV5 and EV9 – a premium, all electric 7-seater SUV, celebrated as Drive’s Car of the Year in 2024 and featured in action on Drive TV’s The Lap.

“Kia’s been such a big supporter, not just for me personally but for the organisation,” Alcott said.

“I feel pretty lucky to have given away the car, to be honest.”

Viewers will also gain an understanding of the Dylan Alcott Foundation’s work to empower young athletes and champion disability inclusion, including the highly successful AbilityFest – Australia’s first inclusive and accessible music festival.

Drive TV executive producer, Terry King, said: “Dylan’s story continues to inspire and surprise audiences worldwide.

“From his new passion for golf to his reflection on longtime friend and fellow Kia ambassador Rafael Nadal’s retirement, this episode truly celebrates Dylan’s evolving journey – and highlights how both continue to champion the next generation of athletes on and off the courts.”

‘The Road to the Open: A New Chapter’ will premiere on Channel Nine at 1:30pm AEDT, Sunday, January 26.
