Who says journalism is dumbing down?
Dr Mumbo’s was pleased Fairfax’s Sydney Morning Herald was on hand yesterday to bring us some of the details, sort of, of a girl of undisclosed age who was mercilessly savaged by a family pet.
However the pet in question wasn’t a pit bull terrier or rottweiller, but a duck.

Of course details are important in journalism, which is what makes this such a ripper yarn.

A pet duck has bitten a girl in Hurstville in Sydney’s south.
The girl is understood to be the owner of the duck.
Paramedics treated the child for the bite at her residence about 5pm on Wednesday.
It is understood that the victim has not been transferred to hospital.
It is unclear what species of duck committed the act.
However, ducks can get aggressive during mating season.
Dr Mumbo is relieved to hear the girl didn’t have to be hospitalised, he worries Fairfax may have left itself open to another law suit from the ducks in the picture given the perpetrator hasn’t been identified.
For anyone thinking of venturing out to the lake this weekend just remember, “ducks can get aggressive during mating season”.
