Dumped Take5 editor Belinda Wallis leading McDonald’s editorial drive
Former Take5 editor Belinda Wallis has emerged as a senior copywriter on the McDonald’s ‘Our Food, Your Questions’ project.
Wallis was made redundant last July after editing the weekly women’s magazine for seven years and replaced by “real life king” Paul Merrill at the Bauer publication. In September it emerged she had taken out a lawsuit against the German publisher for discrimination over her redundancy payout, as well as loss of earnings.
In the new role, which she started in November, Wallis is heading up the online editorial team for the ‘Our Food, Your Questions’ site created by DDB Sydney, which is aimed at debunking myths about the fast food giant’s products by answering any question posed by a member of the public.
McDonald’s today confirmed the appointment adding: “Belinda Wallis is currently working with McDonald’s, as part of an integrated team, on the Our Food, Your Questions initiative. Belinda’s role is as a senior copywriter within the Our Food, Your Questions Response Team.
“This team, which includes McDonald’s subject matter experts and copywriters, is responsible for researching, analysing and responding to every food question submitted by the public.”
Since its launch in November the project has had more than 6,700 questions from members of the public including “why are all the nugget dipping sauces made overseas?” and “why is there no option to supersize?”, with more than 250,000 visits to the site.
