eBay puts local creative tender on hold as it pitches account globally

ebayThe Australian eBay creative pitch has been put on hold as the online auction site has started a pitch to look at its global arrangements, Mumbrella understands.

eBay issued a formal tender before Christmas, with three agencies understood to have been involved and a decision scheduled to have been finalised at the end of last month.

Leo Burnett had held the account since 2010 however Havas WorldWide Sydney was brought in for its Christmas campaign. It is understood Leo Burnett decided not to pitch for the business.

In the US Tribal DDB handled eBay’s Christmas campaign while Venables Bell + Partners has worked on other campaigns for the company.

In 2012, eBay selected Publicis Groupe’s Digitas to handle its digital media and digital creative business in North America while at the end of 2012 the online marketplace selected mobile marketing agency Fetch to manage all of its mobile media and creative campaigns across Europe.

eBay declined to comment on its pitch arrangements.
