eBay partners with Spotify to bring Christmas carols to online shoppers
eBay is bringing the experience of Christmas shopping to its online customers by partnering with streaming music service Spotify to allow people using the site to play Christmas tunes for free while they shop online.
According to global eBay research, 65 per cent of Australians say the start of the Christmas shopping season is signalled by hearing Christmas music.
To further enhance the Christmas spirit while shopping, eBay Australia are handing out gingerbread-scented scratch and sniff stickers to commuters and shoppers.
eBay Australia spokesperson Megan English said: “It’s no surprise that in 2014, more Australians than ever before will be shopping for Christmas gifts and goodies via a screened device. But what is a surprise is that until now, shoppers have potentially missed out on some of the Christmas joy that comes with the music, decorations and scents of Christmas.
“As Australia’s largest online shopping destination, it’s our responsibility to make sure our shoppers have the best experience possible. Our aim is to bring just a little bit of Chrissy cheer to the 8-million Australians who choose to use eBay each and every month; to share some Christmas spirit by giving simple access to some all-time favourite Christmas tunes.”
Users need to have a Spotify account to access the music which appears in a player on the bottom right hand side of the eBay site.
Spotify Australia and New Zealand managing director Kate Vale said: “We’re extremely excited to be working with eBay to bring Christmas joy to their online community this season via an audible music experience.
“We believe eBay consumers will feel that little bit merrier when they tune in to our festive playlist on the eBay site while shopping for loved ones.”
I could think of few things as annoying as listening to christmas tunes while I shop online. Really dumb idea.
