Ebay’s posties return to launch weekly deal day Ebay Tuesdays
Ebay’s posties are back with a voyeuristic perspective on what can happen when entire offices are made aware of its weekly day of deals, Ebay Tuesdays.
The ads feature a fresh face to the postie team, intern Ernie. Working with returning character Samantha the pair notice how hair straighteners and noise-cancelling headphones have wreaked havoc on offices.
It is the third instalment of the campaign from CHE Proximity, debuting in 2019 with the posties having awkward encounters with customers over their missed opportunities to save on Ebay.
“The Posties have been a successful platform for Ebay for a few years now, which has been great but we wanted to continue to keep them fresh. This time around we introduced a young apprentice and dropped our posties into an eccentric office space, with workers obsessed with Ebay Tuesday deals,” said CHE Proximity ECD, Cam Hoelter.
Chief strategy officer Dave Halter, added: “The thinking was very simple. Tuesday is typically the quietest day for online shopping, so we worked with the eBay marketing and sales teams to create exclusive deals to boost traffic. Discounts will be available across products people actually want, like headphones, hair straighteners, shoes and more. The long-running Posties platform works well to deliver this message by never selling, just observing the behaviour we want to encourage.”
The TVCs were directed by Tony Rogers from Guilty. The campaign will also span social and digital.
