Texas-based ecommerce site search and merchandising platform Searchspring has announced the appointment of Kate Massey to drive its growth in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia.

Massey will serve as Searchspring’s head of APAC, overseeing the day-to-day developments of the company as it continues to make the most of a rapidly growing and transforming ecommerce market, following a strong 2020.

Searchspring merchants, which in the Asia Pacific region include Kathmandu, Nourished Life, Patagonia, Rip Curl and Volcom, reported their highest e-commerce sales to date in 2020 with 349% (US$72,475 billion) revenue growth year-on-year.

Massey brings 12 years of business to business tech industry experience, and her hire means Searchspring’s leadership team is now 50% female.

The former JCurve Solutions CMO said of her appointment. “Last year businesses faced market disruption at unprecedented rates, yet met these challenges with resilience, adaptability, and agility,” she said.

“I am deeply passionate about helping businesses achieve their target goals and am thrilled to be joining an organisation that puts clients front and centre in all of their decision making and product investment.

“I knew as soon as I read Searchspring’s online customer reviews on G2 that this was the impressive company and team I wanted to work with to help deliver on its mission to give ecommerce teams superpowers in a region I call home.”

Searchspring merged with ecommerce search provider Nextopia in 2020, and has integration with Shopify Plus, BigCommerce and Magento enable merchants to drive more conversions and increase revenue.

Searchspring CEO Peter Massana said the appointment will help the company build momentum with strategic partnerships. “The APAC region, particularly Australia and New Zealand, plays a key role in the rapidly growing ecommerce ecosystem.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Kate to our Searchspring team as she brings a depth of experience and unmatched passion for helping businesses to scale and succeed,” he added.

“Kate will be instrumental in continuing to accelerate ecommerce technology adoption in the region by building and strengthening Searchspring’s value proposition and working closely with our trusted agencies, partners, and clients.”
