Ecoya’s naked horse rider blocked from Australian billboards
A billboard for bodycare brand Ecoya, which features a naked woman straddling a horse, has been blocked from running on outdoor sites in Australia.

The Outdoor Media Association deemed that the ad – which was permitted to run in New Zealand – breached its code of ethics and did not treat sex and nudity with due sensitivity, and would be seen by children as well as its target audience of adult women.
The image is running on Ecoya’s website, with a number of others of naked women with animals. Ecoya’s New Zealand-based chairman Geoff Ross said he had also tried to run an image of a woman posing with an owl on Australian billboards. But that was also refused by the OMA.

code of ethnics? What did the wogs have to do with it?
Not surprised
Just to correct this story, a complaint against the “woman on horse” billboard was upheld earlier this year by New Zealand’s Advertsing Standards Complaints Board, and the billboard could no longer run
FFS Who’s running this country, Ned Flanders?
Didn’t Old Spice do that “I’m on a horse” thing already?
Making a mounting out of a molehill.
I have no idea if it’s inappropriate, but it DOES look kind of uncomfortable…
I think these are pretty tasteful, actually.
In fact, I’d rather my kids be exposed to this kind of work than those shitty Rivers ads they see on TV.
The woman on the horse, and with the owl, are more provocative than tasteless. But this is always a matter of personal opinion, so who knows who’s right?
But on the owl ads… what exactly is the problem here? Is it the side-boob? Or the fact that she’s photographed with an owl? Is side-boob ok, but side-boob + owl = sexual taboo? And who the fuck thinks of sex when they see a woman with an owl anyway?
What a joke. I looked really hard and you can’t even see any nipple.
@Ron Jeremy “Making a mounting out of a molehill.” – haha, love it!
@Sputnik – yes, it looks VERY uncomfortable!
It would seem though that these kind of ads, as tastefully done as they are, would be best placed in women’s magazines where they’re in front of their target audience – ie. not kids or dirty old men…. though perhaps the brand may have also been hoping for a bit of media attention – in which case, mission accomplished.
I’ve never seen an explanation as to what happens to children when they see a picture of a naked body.
@Frank Acariatre exactly
Now if it were the other way around, I would completely understand…
Bit surprsied myself, this is rather more tasteful than some recent billboard advertising I’ve seen that use semi clad young women. Guess nudity in and of itself is the problem.
It looks very similar to a shoot Gisele did for Vanity Fair in 2000, http://www.vanityfair.com/onli.....d-bundchen – It was beautiful then and it’s beautiful now
Faceless Moral Guardians 1; Common Sense & Freedom 0.
I’m not offended but the billboard does make me wonder – aas it the biggest horse in the world or the smallest model. What’s up with proportions? Tiny model + giant horse + nudity = bad.
Tbats sooo lame. The girl is not showing any private body parts… Its a Picture.
I can see why the Outdoor Media Association would declare the posters to be inappropriate. Imagine – naked animals! And appearing with Humans no less! Shouldn’t they be wearing clothes like they do in real life on Saturday morning cartoons? The children will think that bestiality is OK! Put that horse in a suit and tie right now!
