Eddie McGuire’s Hot Seat finally beats Deal Or No Deal
It took four months, but Eddie McGuire’s Hot Seat has finally beaten rival Deal Or No Deal in the TV ratings.
The Nine show has been edging closer in recent weeks, but according to preliminary OzTam ratings, Tuesday afternoon saw 779,000 viewers for McGuire’s Who Wants To be A Millionnaire spin-off. Andrew O’Keefe’s Deal Or No Deal pulled in 707,000.
Hot Seat is McGuire’s first major Nine project since he stepped down as the network’s CEO two years ago.
However, the advantage quickly slipped away from Nine on Tuesday night, with Seven winning the evening comfortably with Packed To The Rafters pulling in almost 1.9m and Ten’s Talkin Bout Your Generation finding an average audience of 1.5m.
- Tuesday night’s ratings share: Seven 31.3%; Ten 26.5%; Nine 24.3%; ABC 13.6; SBS 4.3%
Tuesday’s top rating shows:
- Packed to the Rafters Seven 1.9m
- Today Tonight Seven 1.5m
- Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation Ten 1.5m
- Seven News Seven 1.5m
- Two and a Half Men – 7:00pm Nine 1.4m
- A Current Affair Nine 1.4m
- Air Ways Seven 1.3m
- Surf Patrol Seven 1.3m
- Nine News Nine 1.3m
- Home and Away Seven 1.2m
Watched it last night for the first time. Eddie kept asking the contestant questions like: So were you born in Australia? Where did you parents come from? When did they move here? Really awkward to watch just made me cringe.

Neither shows are really attention grabbers. While I prefer hot seat over Deal, due to Andrew O’Keefe sheer inanity, 700,000 veiwers isnt really crash hot, is it…
