Employees buy Geon’s Perth operation

The management team of troubled printing giant Geon have made a successful bid to buy the operations and business in Perth.

The current Geon Perth general manager Ian Smith led the bid from a management team to buy the Perth business and operations, which includes the offset and digital printing.

McGrathNicol partner James Thackray said the sale will be completed shortly.

Most of the 63 employees are expected to keep their jobs at the Bassendean facility.

Geon went into voluntary administration last month and administrators McGrathNicol were appointed to sell off the assets. Main competitor Blue Star Group snapped up large chunks of the company, including the New Zealand and New South Wales operations.
