The brand said it was not disclosing the agencies it is talking to, but expects to have an outcome in the coming weeks.

EnergyAustralia is the second largest greenhouse gas polluter according to government data.

EnergyAustralia expanded its relationship with Cummins& Partners in 2020, appointing the agency to its media account, in addition to its remit on creative.

Cummins & Partners was named creative agency of record in 2016, delivering services across strategy, creative, digital, social content and production, as well as media.

Global chief creative officer of Cummins & Partners, Sean Cummins said on LinkedIn that the agency wishes EA “all the best as we each move on”.

“We made some great work over the journey including the brand-defining “Doing Not Just Dreaming” campaign. We’re proud of what we took to the world together, but as EA’s needs shift, our business’ needs have too. We’re moving into a fresh new phase of growth, so we’re making decisions that put fresh value into what we offer, and who we work with – so our growth brings about real growth for our clients too.”

Despite saying that the business’ values are progressing, Cummins added it looks “forward to meeting and working with new brands in the dynamic energy space”.

Cummins & Partners was contacted for further comment.

Yesterday NSW Greens MP Sue Higginson introduced a bill to New South Wales Parliament to ban fossil fuel advertising, similar to that placed on tobacco companies.

The bill, named the Public Health and Safety (Fossil Fuel Advertising) Bill was brought to parliament, and already has the support of Greens and Independent MPs, Higginson told Mumbrella.

This also comes after Comms Declare and Clean Creatives released the 2022 edition of The F-List yesterday, a global independent investigation into advertising, media, and PR agencies working with climate polluting partners has found 239 agencies globally working with fossil fuel companies, with this year’s edition coming with a focus on the agencies working with top local polluters.

In conjunction with the list, Comms Declare also listed the top agencies in Australia by carbon-emitting partners.

Cummins & Partners recently appointed a new global CEO, Michael McConville, who has returned from a nine-year stint in the UK, most recently as managing partner of adam&eveDDB.
