Enero appoints acting co-CEOs, Brendan York and Fiona Chilcott

Enero Group, which owns the likes of BMF, Hotwire, The Leading Edge and Orchard, has new temporary leaders, with chief financial officer Brendan York and chief people and culture officer Fiona Chilcott stepping up to acting co-CEO roles.

The recruitment process for a permanent CEO is still underway, the company told the ASX today.

The roles are effective from 1 April, one day after the founder of BMF and current CEO of Enero Group, Matthew Melhiush departs the business.

Enero has announced its temporary leadership plans

Melhiush announced his imminent departure late last year, noting it was a difficult decision to step down. He said, however, that the business’ new strategy made it the right time for someone else to lead the way.

“This has been a very hard decision for me to take after so many years, but the time feels right for me to hand over to someone else to take the business to the next stage under the new strategy announced at our recent AGM. There’s never a perfect time to do these things, but now seems as right as it ever will and I would like to build myself more of a portfolio life and bring some of the lessons I have learned from renewing Enero to other businesses and industries,” Melhuish said last year.

“It’s been a great ride and I have loved my time here, but it’s time to move on and I remain a committed shareholder.”

Today’s release to the ASX noted “Brendan and Fiona have strong relationships with the agency leaders and will guide the Group through its established strategy in the short term.”

In its financial results in February, the group recorded half-year revenue of $68m, up 6.8%, and operating EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of $11m, up 10% from $10m. Its statutory net profit after tax was $4m, down from $6.1m the year prior.
