Entries open for Mumbrella Publish Awards

Entries are now open for the 2022 Mumbrella Publish Awards, the publishing industry’s longest-running awards program.

Now in its 26th year, the Awards – initially run by Publishers Australia – recognise and celebrate the best work and talent in the industry, and will return to a physical event with a gala dinner to be held on 1 September, at Sydney’s Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.

Last year, Australian men’s lifestyle publication Man of Many picked up four awards at the 2021 Mumbrella Publish Awards including Brand of the Year, while Publishing Company of the Year was won by DMARGE in the small category and Pedestrian Group in the large category.

Content agency Medium Rare scooped five wins; among them, Kate Barnett for Designer of the Year, and Qantas Magazine for Best Sustained COVID-19 Initiative. Two Highly Commended nods were also awarded to it, recognising Donal Curtain (Columnist of the Year) and Coles Magazine (Custom Publication of the Year).

News Corp Australia’s Samantha Maiden received considerable recognition, winning Single Article of the Year and Journalist of the year, following the impact of her reports on former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins. Crikey’s Amber Schultz received the win for Young Writer of the Year (30 or Under) while Schwartz Media’s Rachel Withers received Columnist of the Year.

The Awards will follow this year’s Publish conference, to be held on 31 August at Amora Hotel Jamison in Sydney. Tickets are available now, and speaker submissions are open – get in touch with Mumbrella’s senior event content manager Darren Wells at dwells@mumbrella.com.au.
