Ex-eBay boss Simon Smith to launch online retail consultancy for Quantium

simon smith quantiumAnalytics firm Quantium is looking to capitalise on traditional retailers’ realisation that they need to be online with the creation of a new division focused on helping them make the most of their online data.

Quantium Online is to be headed by former eBay Australia MD Simon Smith.  

He said: “The opportunity to help a range of clients use data driven insights to accelerate their growth online is very exciting. Bricks and mortar retailers are quickly looking to respond to the impact of eCommerce on their established operations, and businesses already trading online will need to continually innovate to stay ahead. Online trading generates a large amount of data on consumer behaviour which many firms struggle to use effectively.”

Before his current role, Smith was group GM of the workwear division of Pacific Brands for about a year and a half and before that with the company’s homewares division. Prior to that he was MD of eBay Australia for eight years.

He said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join the Quantium team. I have been a Quantium client at both eBay and Pacific Brands and have been impressed by the value of the insights they delivered.”
