Ex-Havas Media Australia chairman Mike Wilson joins board of influencer agency Hypetap

Former Havas Media Group chairman Mike Wilson has joined the board of influencer marketing agency Hypetap.

Wilson departed Havas at the end of August after co-founding Havas Media in November 2013.

The recruitment of such an experienced media executive as an independent non-executive director is something of a coup for the technology-driven platform.

He joins founder and CEO Detch Singh, chief technology officer Dhruv Singh and former Mindshare Australia CEO, John Petropoulos, on the board.

Singh said the company is preparing for “continued expansion”.

“We’re delighted to welcome Mike to Hypetap’s board,” he said. “He brings a wealth of experience in building and scaling great businesses from the ground up. We look forward to working with him on our next phase of growth.”

Wilson described Hypetap as innovative and ambitious. “I hope to contribute to their ongoing success,” he said.

Wilson, a Brit, moved to Australia in 1997, working at WPP Media Agency MEC before co-founding Naked Communications in 2004 and launching Havas Media in Australia in 2013.

Hypetap, which provides planning, execution and reporting on influencer marketing campaigns, lists state governments, UNIQLO, Sanitarium, Zip, Youfoodz and Cashrewards among its brands. It has also worked with WPP, Omnicom Media Group, Dentsu, Havas and IPG Mediabrands.
