Ex-Linkedin executive lands at Snap

Social media platform Snapchat’s parent company Snap has appointed a former Linkedin leader to be its head of agency for Australia and New Zealand.

Clare Rudduck will be in charge of relationship building with Snap’s agency partners.

In addition to collaborating with them to learn their priorities and finding opportunities to create impactful campaigns, Rudduck will work to assist brands and agencies in making full use of Snap’s offerings and Gen Z connections, to reach relevant audiences and generate quantitative results.

She’ll report to the managing director of Snapchat ANZ, Ryan Ferguson.

Rudduck’s appointment at Snap follows a close to four-year stint at Linkedin. She joined the professional networking platform in December 2021 as its head of enterprise client solutions for the ANZ region.

By August 2023, she was the platform’s head of enterprise solutions group for ANZ, but had to leave the business after being made redundant in Microsoft’s May job cuts — a move that saw 3% of the technology giant’s global workforce, including roles at Linkedin News, cut to reduce costs.

“It’s a tough moment, but also an unexpected blessing to suddenly be at every school drop-off, pick-up, and dance concert,” Rudduck wrote in a Linkedin post on her redundancy.

“My career has always meant more than just a job — it’s been a journey of wins, challenges, learning, and personal growth. Which has led me to believe a career in sales is all about becoming the best version of yourself you can be— and helping others do the same.

“I’ll be taking a short break to soak up some precious family time — but I’m open to chats and connections as I begin to explore what’s next,” she wrote.

Rudduck has spent more than 18 years of her career in senior leadership positions within media and global technology companies.

Not only was she the Sydney sales director for Yahoo and Verizon Media, but before Seven sold its 50% interest in Yahoo7 to Verizon, she was the NSW sales director for Yahoo7. She completed a close to 11-year stint at that iteration of the business, moving up through several account management roles after being hired as a client services executive in April 2008.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Clare to the team at such an exciting time for Snap,” Ferguson said in a media release.

“Her extensive industry experience and passion for helping agencies deliver creative and effective campaigns will be invaluable as we continue to build momentum and help brands unlock the full potential of our platform, from Sponsored Snaps to our wider product suite.”

In the same release, Rudduck said she is excited at the prospect of helping brands and agencies connect with the next generation of consumers.

“What excites me most is helping agencies and brands show up on Snapchat in ways that really connect them authentically with Gen Z. The biggest audience opportunity for marketers right now is reaching and speaking to this audience in a very real way, and this platform is where those everyday, in-the-moment conversations are already happening,” Rudduck said.

“I look forward to helping our agency partners tap into that energy and create campaigns that drive meaningful business results.”

Eight million Australians and more than 1.5 million New Zealanders use Snapchat each month. The platform reaches close to 90% of people aged between 13 to 24, and 75% of 13- to 34-year-olds in Australia.

The average user opens the app 40 times a day.
