EXCLUSIVE Leo Burnett loses McDonald’s staff, but wins new business

todd_sampsonLeo Burnett Sydney saw layoffs yesterday, with sources at the agency confirming that two staffers and two freelancers were  let go.

Mumbrella understands that the departures were linked to last year’s loss of the agency’s McDonald’s business, rather than the tougher economic outlook.

CEO Todd Sampson (pictured) told Mumbrella: “Based on McDonald’s I made some changes yesterday, that’s true. But in the next couple of days I will be making some hires . I’m expecting this to be a growth year.”

Meanwhile, Mumbrella understands that in the last few days Leo Burnett has beaten BMF and other agencies to the  Australian Taxation Office business and at least one other susbtantial account. It is also working on other live pitches.
