EXCLUSIVE: New digital strategy boss at McCann

One of Sydney’s most respected digital strategists has crossed the Harbour Bridge from Leo Burnett to McCann Erickson.

Mark Pollard started in his new role as Sydney strategy director at Erickson McCann today.  He reports in to director of strategy Helen Karabassis.

The hiring is clearly a move by the agency to boost its digital credentials. As well as being a prolific Twitterer, Pollard blogs at his own site and elsewhere and is behind cutting edge cultural feed Stealth Magazine. During his time at Leo Burnett, he was one of the team behind the award-winning Name it Burger campaign for McDonald’s.

Victoria Curro, McCann’s Sydney MD, said it was a “huge” appointment. She said: “We’re very excited to have him. We wanterd to get somebody who had an understanding of both brand and digital strategy and they’re very hard to find.”

In a Twitter posting this morning Pollard reports: “Game-changer packed. Playlunch, strategy-making utensils, colouring-in pencils, new shirt – all check. Good morning, McCann Sydney!”
