Experienced media executive Doug Flynn quits Seven West Media board

doug-flynn-Former News International and Aegis executive Doug Flynn has stepped down as a director of Seven West Media, a position he has held since the formation of the company in 2010.

Flynn, who was managing director of News International, which publishes The Sun and The Times in the UK, from 1994 to 1998, and also spent six years as head of Aegis in the UK. He took a place on the board of West Australian Newspapers in 2008.

No reason has been given for his resignation and Flynn is chairman of iSentia which floated on the ASX earlier this year, and posted a loss of $18m in its full year accounts. Speculation has emerged overnight that Flynn is set to take the chairman’s role for the soon to be floated APN Outdoor entity.

Last week Seven West Media posted improved profits of $149.8m.

Chairman of Seven West Media Kerry Stokes said: “We acknowledge Doug’s terrific contribution as a non-executive director of our company and also as a vital and important contributor to the board of West Australian Newspapers prior to the transaction which created Seven West Media.

“We thank him for his active involvement as we created a significant listed media company with a market-leading presence across television, publishing and online.”

Mr Flynn said: “It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented Board and management and to have supported their commitment to delivering truly great content and an outstanding enterprise.”

No replacement has been named.
