Fairfax Media appoints Ross Fazel

Ross Fazel has been drafted into the role of key categories sales director at Fairfax Media in Queensland.

The announcement:

Fairfax Media (ASX:FXJ) today announced the appointment of Ross Fazel to the role of Sales Director of Key Categories for Fairfax Queensland.

This is a new position within Fairfax Media and follows last week’s landmark agreement between Fairfax and APN Australian Publishing under which the two leading media companies will combine Fairfax’s online classified advertising with the print classified advertising sections of over 75 regional daily and local newspapers published by APN.

Fazel’s role will encompass responsibility for liaison between APN and Fairfax on the Domain, Drive and MyCareer brands across the two companies.

Previously the Dealer Sales Manager at Drive, Fazel brings to the new position almost 20 years’ experience in the media, including an extensive track record in the Queensland classified advertising marketplace, as well as call centre and advertising agency experience.

Commenting on his appointment, Fazel said: “I’m delighted to be stepping into this role at such an exciting time.

“Our online users will have the benefit of three great, innovative websites in MyCareer, Domain and Drive with great local and national content.

“This new alliance will enable Fairfax to promote the value of its classified websites – Drive.com.au, Domain.com.au and Mycareer.com.au – to advertisers in regional areas where the company does not publish a newspaper,” Fazel said.

Under the agreement, classified ads will appear in print in all newspapers published by APN Australian Publishing under the Drive, Domain and MyCareer brands, and online on the corresponding Fairfax websites.
