Fairfax Media partners with Taronga Conservation Society

Fairfax Media has signed an agreement to support the Taronga Conservation Society.     

The Announcement:

December 8, 2010: Fairfax Media has announced a three-year partnership with Taronga Conservation Society Australia that will see it become a major supporter of the Taronga Volunteers as well as driving key conservation and fundraising initiatives.

As a Principal Partner of Taronga Conservation Society Australia from January 1 next year, Fairfax Media will support 500 volunteers across the Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo

Commencing on 1 January 2011 with the tagline “Headlining Wildlife Protection”, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald will support the key conservation and fundraising initiatives of Taronga Conservation Society Australia in a series of publishing initiatives.

“Fairfax Media is pleased to support the Taronga Conservation Society Australia to increase awareness of conservation efforts and encourage donations and support of the dedicated volunteer programs,” said CEO and publisher of The Sydney Morning Herald, Lloyd Whish-Wilson.

“We will be supporting Taronga’s worthy endeavours in conservation, fundraising and community education.”

Taronga’s Director and CEO, Cameron Kerr, said: “We are delighted to welcome Fairfax Media into our Sponsorship Family as a Principal Partner of Taronga Conservation Society Australia’s two great zoos, Taronga and Taronga Western Plains Zoos.”

“The Fairfax sponsorship will focus particularly on the 500 wonderful Taronga Volunteers who work across an incredible range of activities, from providing information services to visitors to vital wildlife monitoring.”
