Fairfax Media restructures Hunter community titles, appoints one editor for three newspapers

Fairfax Media has combined the editor position for its trio of Hunter community titles, with Port Stephens Examiner editor Anna Wolf taking on the role.
“Port Stephens Examiner editor Anna Wolf has been appointed editor of our Hunter communities titles, which include the Examiner, the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Star and The Lakes Mail,” a Fairfax Media spokesperson told Mumbrella.
The move follows Fairfax’s proposal to cut 69-full-time equivalent positions, including 46-full time editorial jobs, across the Newcastle and Hunter region in August, a move that saw Newcastle Herald staff strike in protest.
The combined position sees Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Star editor Kim-Cherie Davidson leave the newspaper after nearly 11 years.
Mumbrella understands the Lakes Mail editor David Stewart remains with the publication as a journalist.
