FasterLouder gets new editor and new look
Online music news company Sound Alliance has appointed Darren Levin to editor in chief of FasterLouder. Levin moves across from the company’s indie music site Mess+Noise. He is also a contributor to The Age and Rolling Stone. The site has also undergone a relaunch with a new design.
The announcement:FasterLouder, one of Australia’s biggest music websites, has re-launched with a fresh new design and editorial direction aimed to bring a critical, respected and influential voice back to Australian music journalism.
The new look FasterLouder sees former Mess+Noise editor and regular contributor for The Age and Rolling Stone Darren Levin join the ranks in the newly created role of Editor-in-Chief.
“We’ve been searching for Australia’s best music editor for this role, and we kept coming back to Darren,” said Tim Duggan, Sound Alliance Content Director. “FasterLouder is about to enter an exciting next stage as Australia’s leading online music authority, and Darren’s the perfect choice to lead it all the way.”
In a mission statement published on FasterLouder last week, Levin announced that “We’re proud to say we’re the only online media that’s going to be putting up a magnifying glass up to the industry to question, explore and champion what we love and hate.
“We’re going to be devoting our time to working on pieces that are unique to FL; pieces that make you think about what you’re reading. Sometimes they’ll be funny, sometimes they’ll be controversial, sometimes they’ll be touching – but they’ll never be boring.”
In addition to a cleaner more genre neutral look, the new look FasterLouder also includes new sections and features, including an expanded Opinions section where respected industry heavyweights get a chance to air their thoughts.
