Fear and Greed joins the Australian Podcast Ranker while ARN’s IHeartPodcast Network stays on top

Adam Lang’s Fear and Greed podcast has joined the Australian Podcast Ranker, debuting in 62nd place on the All-Australian Top 100.

The ranking, which covered August 1 to August 31, saw seven new entities appear in the Top 100 and fourteen in the All-Australian ranking. But it was Australian Radio Network (ARN) which still came out on top, with its IHeartPodcast Network remaining the top producer.

Stuff You Should Know held onto the top spot, followed again by Casefile True Crime. Hamish & Andy and Schwartz Media’s 7am rounded out the top four, followed by News Corp’s From The Newsroom.

The only change in the top ten was Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne which rose 26 places to take ninth, while SCA’s Triple M Footy AFL podcast rose three spots for tenth place.

Host Brittany Hockley said: “I’ve always been big on saying ‘yes’ to opportunities and I am guilty of dreaming big! So you can imagine how happy I was when I asked Laura to make a podcast with me and the woman didn’t even hesitate! She just jumped in headfirst. We are as crazy as each other! We wanted Life Uncut to be a place where people can come and feel like they’re talking to their friends.

“We wanted to create a safe place for people to laugh, to cry, to learn and to realise they’re not so alone on this crazy rollercoaster that is life. We talk life, love, lust, relationships and whatever else is going on in the world and we love the community we have created. To know that we are one year deep and sitting in Australia’s top 10, well, we are just blown away.”

Laura Byrne added: “Britt and I always try to bring honest, raw, conversations to the table, with a splash of the totally outrageous and hilarious. It’s such a privilege to be able to create a podcast that helps empower women (and a few men too) to have the type of relationships they deserve. We have so much fun making Life Uncut and sharing our own personal stories, but what makes the podcast so wonderful is the incredible community that we’re building.”

The biggest mover in the overall top 100 was Wondery’s Guru: The Dark Side of Enlightenment which fell 67 places to 96th position. Total downloads of all shows by all participating publishers in the month of August is 46.7M.

Nine Radio’s podcast offering was expanded for the August ranking to include its digital and publishing podcasts. This saw the publisher rise two spots in the Top Ten Producers ranking to seventh.
