Female comedians urge women to check their breasts for cancer in radio ads
Breast Cancer Care WA is urging women to check their breasts for possible signs of cancer in a radio campaign produced by The Brand Agency.
The radio campaign features comedians Fiona O’Laughlin and Claire Hooper talking about the different names, types and the best way to check for cancer.
Morgen Lewis, group business director at The Brand Agency, said: “It was tricky to find a way to broach the subject without sound tacky or using cheap boob jokes. It was a masterstroke by Ralph Van Dijk to cast two comediennes as it immediately made the message more engaging.”
The Brand Agency in Perth wrote the campaign, which was directed and produced by Eardrum in Sydney.
Great initiative for difficult topic

Was it also tricky to broach the subject in a way that didn’t sound like a man wrote it?

Definitely written by a man. Also, thanks for using the incredibly condescending term “comedienne” in your release.

@empath, it’s much easier to be snarky than it is to do some research
“The scripts, written by WA Copywriter of the Year, Melita Masters, play on the fact that breast cancer does not discriminate. Big or small, breasts that have had work done and breasts that haven’t, are all vulnerable”
you can find the source on campaign brief, i won’t link it here.
