The announcement:

Monday November 28:

Fernwood Fitness, Australia’s largest women’s only gym, has officially signed on as a major partner of the women’s Melbourne Football club. The two year partnership was established in time for the new sporting movement, with Fernwood’s logo to be displayed on the women’s shorts.  Both brands are committed to empowering women and hope the alignment will inspire young girls and women around the country.

Melbourne Football Club is a pioneer of the AFL women’s league and Fernwood Fitness saw this as a natural fit, who similarly disrupted the women’s health and fitness fitness industry 26 years ago with the launch of the first ever women’s only gym, established in Bendigo.  Fernwood now has over 70,000 members and 70 clubs nation-wide.

Fernwood Fitness Founder, Di Williams, wanted to partner with the football club because they “are at the forefront of the women’s sport movement and a pioneer of the AFL women’s league.”

“We want to be the champions of women’s health. We want to inspire the hundreds of thousands of girls who now have these incredible role models to aspire to. They represent strength, resilience and grit.”

“It’s the girls’ time to shine. And we want to give women a space where they can reach their full potential.”

Melbourne chief commercial officer George de Crespigny is also excited to partner with the women’s fitness brand.

“We’re excited to welcome Fernwood Fitness to the Melbourne Football Club as a major partner of the women’s team. For us, the ability to have Fernwood on the women’s shorts is a perfect fit for the club,” he said.

The Melbourne Football Club has another partner in common with Fernwood Fitness, the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and felt connected by the existing ties with the organisation.

“It’s an organisation that is close to our hearts,” says Di Williams.

The Fernwood Fitness logo will be on the women’s shorts this season and are looking forward to an influential partnership with the football club.
