Fiona Connolly steps down from Are Media

Fiona Connolly has stepped down as group publisher of weekly titles at Are Media.

Are Media confirmed the departure in a statement,  revealing Connolly wrapped up her role on Friday 16 December to “pursue other opportunities”.

The statement continued: “Fiona leaves the weekly brands in a strong position as they continue to engage with one in four Australians every month. Are Media would like to thank Fiona for her incredible contribution over the past 14 years and wish her the best of luck for her next adventure. Are Media will undertake a recruitment process to fill the role in 2023.”

Connolly exits after nearly 14 years with the magazine group, formerly Australian Consolidated press until 2012 and then Bauer Media until 2020.

Despite a number of restructures at the group through these transition periods, Connolly managed to rise through the ranks, from being the youngest ever editor of Woman’s Day, editor-in-chief and editorial director before becoming group publisher.

In her most recent role, she presided over titles including Woman’s Day, New Idea, TV Week, Who and That’s Life.
