Fiveaa Adelaide appoints Jeremy Cordeaux as evening host
Fiveaa Adelaide has appointed award winning journalist Jeremy Cordeaux as its new evening host, starting on air from Tuesday, January 28.
Cordeaux covered the summer leave period for Leon Byner’s morning show during which he spoke to a number of high-profile Australians including Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Fiveaa program director Dave Shearer said in a statement: “Jeremy did a fantastic job filling in for Leon over the summer period, and showcased that he’s committed to the people of Adelaide and making the state a better place. He’s an award winning journalist and talk back host, so having him as a part of our on air line up is a great opportunity for Fiveaa.”
During his summer stint Cordeaux also led campaigns committed to making Adelaide a better place, personally offering $10,00 to catch the people behind the deaths of miniature show horses on SA’s Fleurieu Peninsula.
“Five years ago I decided to take my own long service leave, but I never wanted to retire. I’m glad I had time to recharge the batteries, smell the roses, wash the cars, but I’m very excited to be getting back on the air from Tuesday. I feel like all the years in radio have prepared me for now. I feel very lucky,” Cordeaux said in a statement.
Cordeaux has won gold three times for “Best Talk Show Host in the World” at the New York Festival Radio Awards and has been recognised with an Order of Australia Award.
Jeremy commences on air next week from 8pm to midnight, weeknights.
Mark Aiston will also join the Fiveaa on air line up from Tuesday, as he joins David Penberthy and Jane Reilly on FIVEaa’s breakfast show.

Whilst I listen to 5AA from breakfast to 1pm I only by chance found Jeremy Cordeaux on air last night. Why not promote this fact you have him back on air? Whilst I have enjoyed listening to Leon Byner over the past few years I absolutely loved hearing Jeremy back on air over the holidays. He just has that extra something. I really loved Belinda & understand her moving back interstate but can’t warm to will Goodings (no offence to Will) Did Jeremy not want to do afternoons as it seems logical that although Leon & Jeremy are similar they are different enough to run back to back. I hear next week Leon will be finishing at 12pm so that is when I will switch off. Again I am just so happy Jeremy is back on air, just a pity it is at a time when I am not normally tuned in. Thanks for bringing him back none the less. Best of luck to him,

Fasntastic to have Jeremy back, thank you FiveAA, loved him in the morning show, but enjoy listening to Leon solve everyone’s problems. Night will be so much better now with his commonsense, laid back, style. Thank you, thank you!

Why was there no warning about Paul Maikin being dumped without reason? You have lost me as a listener

You have lost me from that time slot, Paul Makin was wonderful as a host.

I was just starting to enjoy Paul Makin at night. He was entertaining and light hearted at the late hours that I listened. I do like Jeremy too, so why not give both air time, say Jeremy two nights a week and Paul three. Football season will change that, so you can make it two nights each. That way you will please everybody. Seriously think about it as I have always been a Fiveaa listener.

Welcome back Jeremy, you are the best thing that ever happened to Adelaide radio in my view. We arrived in Adelaide about the same time as you also from NSW/ACT.
I love the way you introduce your musical segments, no doubt you would have picked up a thing or two from Lawsie, when you worked the panel for him.
Re Paul Makin, I also admire him and think the afternoon shift would suit him ideally.
The breakfast line up seems about right as we need a bit of frivolity in the morning after losing Blakey.
