Flash Forward has big US debut

Seven’s programme bosses hoping for a hit in its heavily promoted new series Flash Forward will be encouraged by ratings from the show’s debut in the US on Thursday night.

The show’s premiere took the US ABC network to a victory for the night, and delivered 24% more of the 18-49 audience than its season premiere of its other ratings behemoth Ugly Betty, reports AdAge.

Thursday night was a key one for the US networks with several of the shows that make up the backbone of Australian schedules returning to air. The new series of Grey’s Anatomy, which also appears on Seven here, won the night but was down its previous season debut.

CSI’s new series faded on the previous season, which potentially spells bad news for Nine.

A further key signal will come on Sunday night when Desperate Housewives – another Seven staple – returns to US TV screens.
