kylie johnsonShe will head up digital strategy and content for the PR agency’s Sydney office and will build a digital team as part of “agressive growth plans for the second half of 2010”, according to Walter Jennings, the agency’s general manager.

In previous work, Johnson implemented social media and digital strategies for government departments and agencies including CSIRO, and the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA).

In her most recent role as new media adviser for DEWHA, Johnson was involved in the launch of the department’s National Cultural Policy initiative headed up by Peter Garrett, the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts. The program sought public recommendations as well as formal submissions, using an online platform, to help shape a national policy.

Jennings said: “Fleishman-Hillard is investing heavily in digital globally… Online is now a more important part of the communication mix. Kylie’s appointment allows us to respond to demand in Australia from existing and new clients seeking advice on how to implement social media programs.”
