Fnuky joins censorship debate
Adelaide agency Fnuky and comic Dan Ilic have created an anti-censorship ad campaign for the political organisation GetUp!.
‘Censordyne’ is intended to raise awareness of the Federal Government’s planned mandatory internet filter.
As part of the PR push, the organisation is asking the public to help fund the ad’s showing on Qantas planes to Canberra in a bid to reach politicians. And it has also created a search engine, which wipes out many of the answers.
Like it a lot!
Have been quite impressed with other work from Fnuky.

Nothing snaps my funny bone like irreverent relevance. Content filtering seems a rich mine for comedy goodness; the new Internet Explorer 8 barf ad got me laughing too

It’s good news for all of us in the comedy business when people use humour to cut through the clutter.
As a Corporate Comedian and Hoax Speaker, my main ‘urging’ is for those same companies to use humour, not just in the B2C space, but also in the B2B area and in their internal communications eg at product launches, conferences and events. These less public forums are often neglected when it comes to getting the message across in a way that is dynamic and memorable – and which keeps the audience awake!
When I helped Coca Cola to launch Coke with Lime to their sales force, we gave the audience a real treat with a live hoax speech, where I pretended to be their International Vice President of Marketing, Elwood C Jefferson the Third.
Let’s keep the creativity and comedy coming!

While I’m happy to say the ad is clever, it none the less comes from GetUp, an organization that is late to the anti-censorship bandwagon and may only be pitching to gain attention to their other campaigns.
Lets remember that GetUp was founded by active Victorian ALP members, and GetUp helped elect both the Rudd Government, and specifically Conroy at the last election through advertising and more.
I’m publically dead against censorship, but I can’t help than think that giving GetUp money to promote this campaign is really a back door to a trojan horse.

let’s keep the comedy coming but cease and desist with the gratuitous advertising please

I see “good old glory days Graeme” is plugging away again – I’m with you Stu. Still chuckling over that whacky zany Elwood C. Jefferson III hoax speech – not!
