‘Focus more on how the brand behaves rather than what we want to say’: We go one-on-one with Adam Ferrier

On a new episode of Mumbrella’s one-on-one podcast series, Neil Griffiths is joined by Thinkerbell co-founder, Adam Ferrier.

As well as discussing everything happening in the podcasting and audio world and current PR crises, Ferrier issued a call out to the media and marketing industry for 2024, specifically around brands.

“I reckon all the really interesting brands in the world at the moment have a good proposition, but more importantly, kind of behave in a way that brings that brand to life and they just find their own rhythm and they find their own way of communicating, which may or may not be through traditional media channels,” Ferrier said.

“I’d like the industry to focus more on how the brand behaves rather than what we want to say. And I think it’s kind of really interesting that we’re still kind of obsessed with messaging as opposed to how the brands can get attention, can get interest and spark people’s kind of imagination by the things they do.

“I find that kind of liberating.”

On the episode, Ferrier also unpacks his much talked about session at CRA’s HEARD conference last week, and discusses the good and bad currently happening within the marketing and media industry.
