Football Federation of Australia appoints Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi and Starcom
Football Federation Australia (FFA) has overhauled its marketing roster appointing Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi as its creative agency and Starcom as its media agency of record.
Saatchi & Saatchi and Starcom won the account from incumbent agencies BMF and Mediacom, following a competitive pitch process which kicked off earlier this year.
This is the first account win for Saatchi & Saatchi since Anthony Gregorio took the helm of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia in March.
Starcom and Saatchi & Saatchi have been tasked with giving a “fresh approach” to the FFA as well growing its broadcast audiences.
“It’s an honour to be appointed and we are delighted to be working with the FFA to promote and grow the premier football code in the country. As a self-confessed football tragic, the fact this allows me to indulge my passion during work hours is a massive bonus,” Gregorio said in a statement.
Luke Bould, head of commercial, digital and marketing at FFA, said the FFA is aiming to engage its audiences with its professional leagues, clubs and national teams.
“We were delighted with the response to the pitch, with outstanding work from a number of agencies, making it a tough decision. We are excited to be working with Saatchi & Saatchi and Starcom, whose passion for the game and strategic thought really shone through.”
Martin Hadley, general manager of Starcom, added: “Our Starcom team is excited and energised to be joining with Saatchi & Saatchi to partner with the FFA.
“Together we will further develop and execute a powerful communication and channel solution to help football realise its true potential and fuel the passion for the sport in an exciting and pivotal year.”
wow – BMF did some incredible work on that client over the past few years…seems weird that the client would move the business
