Former CMO joins Mumbrella in event content curation role

Mumbrella has filled the key role of event content curator across its leading media and marketing industry conferences.

From 20 March former general manager of marketing for Genuine Parts Company APAC and CMO of 8 Star Energy, Diana Di Cecco, will join the team.

Diana di Cecco – Mumbrella’s new event content lead

Di Cecco has had a long and significant marketing career that has spanned brands including Seven West Media, Goodyear, The Good Guys, Nando’s and more, as well as holding the top marketing job at Genuine Parts Company APAC, best known for the historic Repco brand, now major partner of the Supercars Championship and the Bathurst 1000.

At Mumbrella, Di Cecco will be charged with curating the content and key themes across its range of industry events including the various marketing summits that span retail, travel, sports and finance, with more to be added next year. She will also be involved in other key conferences including Mumbrella360 and Commscon.

Di Cecco will be joining on a part-time basis as she completes a Juris Doctor at the University of Canberra.

The hire marks the first time Mumbrella has had a former CMO as part of its content department and comes at a period where the business is significantly increasing its content output.

Mumbrella has increased the amount of industry evets it is running this year

“The team and I are hugely excited to welcome Diana to the Mumbrella team,” said editorial director Damian Francis. “Having a marketer the calibre of Diana join the Mumbrella content team is a significant coup for our entire business.

“Who better than to direct the content of our media and marketing industry events than someone who has lived and breathed it for their entire professional life and has made it all the way to the top?

“I have no doubt Diana’s contribution will provide significant value to the delegates and partners of our events and will spill into our editorial as well. Which other trade publications have a former CMO on staff in the content department?”

Di Cecco said: “Mumbrella is the leading publication for the media and marketing industry. While I am usually on the other side, being on the inside will provide me with a new perspective and the ability to provide my own insight, and I am excited by that.

“I was looking for a job that would keep me in the industry while I study and allow me to put my wealth of knowledge to good use—my aim is always to do meaningful work. I have a great deal of respect for Mumbrella and for the team, so when a win-win opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance.

“While we have a tremendous group of industries we currently cater for from a media and marketing perspective, I intend to find other markets to service and curate industry leading events that will attract world class speakers and contributors.”

Di Cecco will be Melbourne-based, joining news editor Calum Jaspan, and meaning Mumbrella will have further editorial representation in the market.

Her first event will be the Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit in Sydney on March 23.
