Former Fairfax audience and innovation editor joins media intelligence firm Streem
Media intelligence company Streem has appointed former senior Fairfax
Media editor Conal Hanna to the newly created role of media and partnerships Lead.
In his new role, Hanna will lead Streem’s efforts to strengthen and amplify publisher and customer relationships across Australia and New Zealand.
Hanna joined Fairfax in 2006 after just short of a year as news editor at the Queensland Times. During his 12 years at the now Nine owned media group, he served as managing editor of the Brisbane Times, online editor of the Sydney Morning Herald and, most recently, Fairfax’s audience and innovation editor.
Mumbrella has contacted Nine about the future of Hanna’s former role in the merged business, following his departure last October.
Speaking of his appointment, Hanna said: “Streem is a business I’ve been watching closely the last few years and has demonstrated its credentials as an innovator. My focus is to drive closer relationships with publishers that can create new sources of revenue and ways to engage with audiences.”.
Streem was launched in 2017 as a competitor to incumbent Isentia and rival Meltwater. The business licenses content from local publishers as part of its realtime media monitoring platform.
“Since day one Streem has led innovation in the media intelligence sector and Conal’s appointment is part of a deeper level of thinking about how Streem can improve the value from content for publishers and their audiences,” said Elgar Welch, CEO and business lead at Streem.
“Conal brings strong relationships and a history of using data to create value for media owners. Streem has always seen media companies as partners and Conal’s joining will mean improved products for customers and enhanced revenue streams for media owners.”
