Former Nine CFO Paul Koppelman joins Dentsu
Dentsu Australia has appointed former Nine Entertainment Co chief financial officer Paul Koppelman as CFO for Australia and New Zealand. Koppelman replaces Jerome Whelan, who has moved into a regional finance role to support Dentsu’s APAC business and operations teams.
Koppelman left Nine suddenly in mid 2020 after only 10 months in the role to be with his family in Melbourne’s lockdown after the death of a relative. Nine then appointed Maria Phillips as chief financial officer.
Prior to Nine, Koppelman held CFO roles with Aconex, AXA, Medibank and BHP, and has had a career spanning Australia, London, and The Netherlands.
Dentsu ANZ CEO Angela Tangas, commented: “We are very pleased to have Paul join our team, in what is an important hire for Dentsu ANZ. With an impressive career to date, Paul will play a vital role in helping us continue to build on the great momentum we gained in 2020 and into our next phase of growth.”
Dentsu has been undertaking a number of changes over the past year to simplify its business and brands in the market as part of its long-term growth strategy. It most recently announced that its brands Amicus Digital, Davanti Australia, DWA and Gyro would be brought together as part of Merkle Australia.
Koppelman will form part of dentsu ANZ’s Executive Team, reporting into Tangas.
